Research interests
Mycology: relationship and interaction between fungi and forests, agricultural plants, bacteria, polymers, etc.; ecological roles and biodegradation potential of fungi in the natural environment.
Bioscience technology: laboratory techniques and analytical instruments for microbiological, chemical, and molecular analyses.
Background
Staff engineer, wood sample treatment and analyses with accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), GC-MS, SRC microwave digestion, Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research, Norway, 2023.
Laboratory technician, RNA mediated silencing of Fusarium graminearum, sclerotia growth and ascospores collection of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Canada, 2022.
Diploma of Bioscience Technology, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Canada, 2022.
Master of Science in Biology (forest mycology and plant pathology), Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Sweden, 2013.
Bachelor of Agriculture in Forestry, Beijing Forestry University, China, 2007
Ongoing project
Jekyll and Hyde: Could fungi be Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the plastic litter problem? (Funded by the Research Council of Norway, project number: 336251, 2022.09.01 - 2027.08.31)
Project work finished
Pilot study with experiment trials: materials and methods in WP2 microbiological analyses and WP5 plastic degradation experiments.
WP1 Citizen science project: plastic waste sample collection from all over Norway(except Svalbard), general sample information is also collected, including location, habitat, and possible usage.
Project work in process
Experiment: DNA extraction on chosen plastic Waste samples, followed by a series of processes for fungal ITS2 sequencing and meta-analysis of bioinformatic data. Chemical analyses of plastic Waste samples for polymer type identification and azole/azole metabolites identifcation.
Paper: based on the pilot study about the microbiological analyses and plastic degradation experiments.
